GNCC - Round 5: Location: Society Hill, South Carolina Round five of the GNCC saw rain arrive before the event that created a challenging course with large mud holes and ruts. The stand-out rider of the event was Rachel Gutish finishing a respectable 3rd in the WXC class and an even more impressive 4th overall in the AM race out of close to 600 riders! The other team riders had an up and down day, however all of them finished inside the top 8 in their classes. Cody Barnes: 6th - XC2 class Thorn Devlin: 8th - XC2 class Chase Colville: 4th - XC3 class Rachel Gutish: 3rd - XCW class The next event for the Beta factory East team will be round two of the NEPG (National Enduro) series this weekend. The next GNCC race is round six in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania on June 14th. Cody Barnes 250 RR Race Edition "My Beta 250 RR got me off to a great start and I was quickly able to make the pass for the lead. I lead for a bit before making a small mistake and dropping a few positions. I was able to salvage 6th place for the day but that's not where I want to be. I will be working on some things in the next two weeks and will be back to give it my all." Thorn Devlin 250 RR Race Edition "The rough course and high temperatures made for a brutal Round 5 Camp Coker GNCC. Heavy rains the week of the race made for some bottomless mud holes and soft terrain. My Beta 250 RR got a great jump; getting the holeshot and in a great position for the start of the three hour race. Unfortunately, I got stuck in a sinkhole a few miles in. I was able to fight back a few positions and salvage some points on the day. Thank you to all our sponsors for the support and keeping us seeing checkered flags!" Chase Colville 125 RR Race Edition "I started the Camp Coker GNCC off with a mid pack start before working my way up to the lead group until I unfortunately fell twice on the first lap, losing sight of the lead group. I was able to ride the rest of the race mostly mistake free and finish in 4th!" Rachel Gutish 300 RR Race Edition "I am super stoked to have earned my first GNCC podium for the Factory Beta team! It's been a long time coming, and I'm glad I was finally able to live up to the belief the team has in me and the effort we all put in. I battled with the leaders nearly all day, and was happy to come home with a podium spot, especially given that Camp Coker is a race I usually struggle at." Photo Credit: Ken Hill

WORCS - Round 3: Location: Mesquite, NV WORCS racing continued with round two in Mesquite, Nevada. With temps above 100, the race was grueling to say the least. Beta factory rider Chance Fullerton was off to a good start running in third before catching a rock and breaking a bone in his foot. The young rider from Acton, California had to pull out of the race. Beta rider and Hare & Hound regular Zane Roberts used the WORCS race to train for when the NHHA returns. Roberts finished a respectable seventh place in the Pro2 class aboard his factory Beta 430 RR Race Edition. Zane Roberts: 7th - Pro2 class Chance Fullerton: DNF - Pro2 class The next event for the Beta factory West team will be round four of the WORCS series June 14th in Wickenburg, Arizona.

Beta Factory riders take two Pro podiums at round 1 of the AMA East Hare Scramble series!

February 20, 2020 Lane Swall
Beta press 2-20-20.jpg

AMA East Hare Scramble, Round 1: Location: Union, SC Beta USA Factory Team rider; Thorn Devlin celebrated with his first win of the year in the Pro class at round 1 of the AMA Eastern Hare Scramble Series. The race was a total quagmire with heavy rain throughout the day bringing with it thick slippery mud. Rachel Gutish also battled the elements bringing home her first win of the season in the Women's Pro class! Beta Support rider and 2019 East Hare Scramble Champion; Kyle McDonal had a couple setbacks that resulted in a 7th place finish for the day.

THORN DEVLIN 250 RR Race Edition "Round 1 of the AMA East Hare Scramble Series presented by Beta was a challenging, yet fun race. It provided fast, muddy, rooty terrain that was challenging on all levels. It felt great to grab the checkered flag and carry my momentum into the opening round of the GNCC series next weekend."

RACHEL GUTISH 300 RR Race Edition "I'm very excited to take home my first win of the season! Conditions were great the first lap, then the rain started.... it got super slippery with deep ruts everywhere, but I was having a blast! The 300 worked insanely well in the mud. The incredible power made it almost impossible to get stuck in the deep stuff and by riding a gear high I was able to really sail around those slick corners. A mistake on lap one cost me about three minutes, but I was able to regroup, shake it off and charge back up to the front of the pack.”

WORCS Sprint Hero Series, Round 1: Location: Taft, CA Chance Fullerton just missed the Open AA class podium finishing in 4th after long day of battling with teammate Zane Roberts who ended the day in 5th place also in the Open AA class.

CHANCE FULLERTON 430 RR Race Edition "I missed the podium by 3 seconds this last weekend at the Sprint Hero race. It makes me want a podium even more. Time to really start digging deep and getting after it. Thanks to everyone who helps us out!”

ZANE ROBERTS 430 RR Race Edition "I had a lot of fun this weekend at my first Sprint Hero race! I struggled with the high intensity nature of the event from the get go as it's nothing like anything I've ever raced before. I'm not stoked with the result, but I know what I have to work on to improve. I'm looking forward to doing more these races throughout the year!”

National Hare & Hound Round 9 Overview:

Location: Lucerne Valley, CA

Beta Factory Race Team Results:

-Beta Support rider Zane Roberts finished out the season with a win after sustaining a broken scapula only a few races prior to the event. Roberts ended the season 11 points behind the Pro 250 leader in 2nd place.

-Joe Wasson also finished out the season on the podium with a 2nd place Overall finish. Wasson battled the entire season for the lead while finishing just 15 points behind the OA leader.

-Chance Fullerton had a great performance at the final round finishing just shy of the Overall podium in 4th place. Fullerton's ability to adapt to the bigger Beta 430 RR Race Edition throughout the season, and his determination, showed in his results as he finished in 4th place Overall.

-Morgan Tanke had some bad luck in the final round resulting in a DNF. However, Tanke had a strong season with one win in the Women's Pro class and five 2nd place podiums resulting in a 2nd place finish for the 2019 National Hare & Hound series.

ZANE ROBERTS

Bike: 250 RR

"I was finally able to get things back on track this weekend at the final round of the National Hare & Hound series. I had some bad luck the past few races, so I was very happy to take a convincing win and end the season on a high note! I can't thank the whole Beta USA crew enough for helping make this a great season, and I'm excited for next year!"

JOE WASSON

Bike: 430 RR

"Round 9 was an awesome race! I knew going into it some miracles were going to have to happen for me to get the championship, but I still had a positive mindset! I got lined up on the start line and when the banner dropped we were off. 44 miles of virgin single track, rocks, and sand washes made for an awesome course. I was running third and made the pass for 2nd in the second loop. I could see the leaders dust, but I would have had to hang it all out there to get the win. It wasn't worth it because I still wouldn't have won the championship seeing how the points leader would have still been second, so I rode a smart race and had a blast!!!"

CHANCE FULLERTON

Bike: 430 RR

"The final round of National Hare & Hound went pretty well! After a horrible start, I charged to the front and ran 4th all day. I just couldn't make it to the lead group, but for my first year on a big bike I'll take it. I ended up only a couple points shy of 3rd in the championship! All in all I'm impressed with my overall riding. I can't wait to see how much more I have to improve. Thank you to everyone for the 2019 series!"

MORGAN TANKE

Bike: 250 RR

"Sunday was a tough day for me. I got off to a good start and was riding well. The course was very rocky and technical which I liked. I passed for second early into the first loop and held it going into loop 2. The technical sections of loop 2 gave me some breathing room between myself and the 3rd place rider and I was feeling good. Unfortunately my good day made a turn for the worse with about a mile to go. My motor seized up and I was dead in my tracks. After pushing my bike through the sand for a bit another racer came to the rescue and towed me to the finish, which unknowingly disqualified me due to a technicality. I'm extremely bummed that it ended up that way, but lucky I still managed a 2nd place in the championship for the team and I. I'm disappointed that my season ended this way, but I'm happy with how my first full season of desert racing went. I'm proud of what I've learned and accomplished and am excited for next year."

GNCC Round 12 Overview:

Location: Beckley, WV

Beta Factory Race Team Results:

-Mike Witkowski battled for the XC2 class lead for most of the day and ended taking home a 2nd place finish. Witkowski is currently in 3rd place for the series points standings 4 points behind 2nd place.

-Rachel Gutish finished just shy of the WXC podium in 4th place and is currently in 9th place for the series points standings.

MIKE WITKOWSKI

Bike: 250 RR

"The Mountaineer GNCC terrain was very rocky and hilly. The week prior I had rode at my local sand track getting my fitness up to par, but I didn't exactly have rocks to practice so I just went at it the best I could with a good mindset toward the race. My Beta 250 RR got off to a great start. I went into the woods in second, but quickly passed for first and tried to check out. Unfortunately, I didn't have all the hot lines picked out and was quickly passed. I sat back and learned from the leader taking in all the good lines. About three laps in, I found myself in contention for the win again. I took a pit stop on lap three and the leader didn't gas, so I had about 30 seconds to make up. I had a really good lap and kept the gap manageable until a lapped rider cleaned me out on a downhill. Ultimately it was a bad lap that caused the leader to break away even more. I settled for 2nd place and 9th overall for the day's end result. I think without that major crash, and a few mistakes, I could have cleaned up and would have been in the hunt for a win. We have one more race at the Ironman GNCC to make it happen!"

RACHEL GUTISH

Bike: 200 RR

"I got off to an excellent start at my last round of GNCC this season. I entered the woods in about fourth place, and by a few miles in had moved up into second. About three miles from the barrels I passed for the lead, and maintained it for several miles before dropping back into second. Lappers are a thing I have always struggled with, and as soon as we got into the thick of them on the third lap, I started to have quite a few problems. I dropped down into fourth place and was unable to make up any of the time I lost. With that being said, this is still the most competitive I have felt at a GNCC since I was injured. I have high hopes for next season! I am also looking forward to the rest of the EnduroCross series, where I am still in contention for the series title."

Destined for domination!

October 10, 2019 Lane Swall
Beta press 10-10-19_1.jpg

Beta is proud to launch the 2020 RR race Edition models. These models are all new for 2020 and are sure to be a sellout model for the Italian brand. The 2020 range includes 7 different engine sizes: three 2-stroke (125/250/300 cc) and four 4-stroke (350/390/430/480 cc) engines that offer Beta riders and racers a good selection to meet his or her needs.

Beta press 10-10-19_2.jpg

Most all of the updates to the standard range of RR and RR-S models have found their way into the Race Edition lineup. Features such as all new frames and bodywork, as well as new counter-balanced engines in the 2 strokes which are still pre-mix to save weight, however an oil injection system is available as an option. Electric start is standard on all models with a back-up kick start kit available as an option.

The all-new 4 stroke engines feature simplified cooling hose routing and re-positioned crankshaft and clutch for better handling. In addition to the new engines, the sub-frame, tail section, seat, fuel tank, bodywork, and many other details are also all new coming together to provide the best looking and most friendly cockpit layout on the market.

If that were not enough, Beta has added the addition of a 48mm KYB AOS closed cartridge front fork! The new fork has been coupled with an updated Sachs rear shock to provide a balanced suspension package.

Beta press 10-10-19_3.jpg

New features include:

Engine

4-stroke (350/390/430/480 cc):

-A complete redesign, with the aim of reducing the weight and bulk of moving parts, achieved by raising the clutch and moving the crankshaft back. Moving the center of gravity closer to the swingarm pivot makes for significantly better handling. An overall weight reduction of 2.2 lbs.

-A redesigned magnesium clutch cover, redeveloped to improve the oil flow into the clutch assembly more efficiently.

-Magnesium flywheel cover, redesigned in-line with the rest of the engine, now with a more functional and modern look.

-New water pump system that improves flow-rate and therefore the efficiency of the cooling system's ability to transfer heat, keeping average temperatures lower, improving performance, and providing a more simplified cooling hose system.

-Cylinder and head redesigned matched with the updated cooling system to lower engine temperatures.

-Oil circuit redesigned to provide better heat transfer between oil and water in the front section of the crankcase in order to keep the oil temperature lower.

-Updated charging system that provides higher output.

-Clutch with redesigned discs in a new material to ensure smoother and more modular gear shifting.

-Redesigned gearing, now shorter and lighter.

-New gearshift mechanism with lighter cam to improve shifting.

-Gearshift lever redesigned in line with the new engine and frame layout.

-Updated EFI mapping.

-Machined aluminum oil fill plugs and oil filter cover.

Beta press 10-10-19_4.jpg

2-stroke (250/300 cc):

-Now with a counter-balancer to reduce vibration by increasing inertia and improving the power delivery curve. The counter-balancer improves the power delivery throughout the rpm range.

-Cylinder head redesigned (250 cc only) to improve torque at low rpm.

-Machined aluminum oil fill plug.

-New expansion chamber, improved performance across the power range (125 cc only).

Beta press 10-10-19_5.jpg

-All-New frame with redesigned geometry and rigidity for increased agility and stability. Weight is reduced and reliability boosted with the use of precision-cast components, while comfort is improved and vibration reduced thanks to new head bolts. The frame is also narrower at the base which improves handling over difficult sections and typical off-road tracks.

-Modified swingarm, now longer for the 4-stroke range for better stability and traction.

-Completely redesigned tailpiece, greater strength to reduce breakage during off road riding, all filter box components and related accessories are now housed inside it (electrical components and oil reservoir for 2-strokes).

-New air filter boot.

-Air Filter mounting system, providing quicker and more accurate installation.

-KYB 48mm AOS Closed Cartridge front fork, Beta engineers working with KYB to provide a balanced feel to the bike during racing or play riding.

-New rear shock absorber with:

--New top-out system, now a spring to improve grip and contact with the ground during hard braking.

--New longer shock bumper with more progressive compression. This ensures good protection of the buffer and improves bottoming resistance.

--New valving, to work in-line with the new frame.

-Cooling system with water hoses placed inside the frame and more efficient radiators. This improves heat transfer and allows engines to operate at lower temperatures even in the most extreme conditions.

-Larger capacity fuel tanks, of 2.4 US gallons for 4-strokes and 2.55 US gallons for 2-strokes. Besides providing greater range, the new fuel tanks improve ergonomics and ease-of-movement in the seat.

2020 Beta ride impressions

October 3, 2019 Lane Swall
Beta news 10-3-19.jpg

125RR

Still not a 125 guy sadly! The last one I rode was last years model so my small bore 2-stroke skills haven't improved at all and I wasn't able to get the most out of this machine but even with that said it is an amazing power plant for an offroad 125 2-stroke. The power is all up top of course but it's a pretty wide spread all things considered and there certainly is something about throwing a 125 around that is too much fun.

200RR

Much like the 250 just below, my impression of this machine varied wildly from last year. This machine needed some jetting so as far as motor impression I would defer to last years writeup as that machine ran great and was very impressive. Handling was excellent, nimble, and able put it anywhere you want on the trail just like the 125.

250RR

I just happened to ride the 2020 250RR first based on line length, and it was a good start to the day. Our course was tight and slick; typical Ohio slippery I'm told! The last time I rode a 250 I wasn't overly impressed but this one must have been setup differently because I loved this machine. Responsive and lively power, yet linear and without the hit I didn't care for last year. As this was so early in the day the course was still quite slick but the power delivery was controllable and snappy at the same time somehow; very impressed.

300RR

I rode the 300RR second and the difference in power delivery and feel was noticeable between it and the 250. A bit more flywheel feel so more power than the 250 but even more controllable. I've never felt that the Beta 2-strokes vibrated badly and still feel the same with the addition of the counterbalancer.

300RR Race Edition

Next up was my first ride on a Race Edition with KYB forks. The course was still pretty slick and in these conditions there wasn't a whole lot of difference between the two, possibly a bit more planted in the front with the Kayaba AOS forks.

350RR Race Edition

Moving up the displacement range the 350RR Race Edition got more into my comfort zone as a 4-stroke guy. In the snotty conditions, and at sea level, the 350 was great. Easier to find traction due to power delivery and overall weight, in the slick Ohio conditions I really enjoyed the 350. Riding it a second time later in the day brought out the differences between the two forks, I still prefer the closed cartridge units for feel and bottoming resistance, whether Sachs or Kayaba.

390RR-S

I really love the 390 motor, my favorite powerplant of all the machines and this one was no different. The change to Race Edition spec just makes the RR-S motor even better. Still the "Mama Bears bed" of all the 4-strokes, just right. This machine still handled the slick terrain at sea level well but is also excellent is the more wide open western conditions at altitude that we ride locally.

430RR-S

By this point in the day most of the track was finally getting burned in so speeds increased a bit to where the difference between the open chamber and closed chamber forks could be felt. No change for me here, I still prefer the closed chamber forks out of the crate. My personal machine has open chambers that work quite well and either can be made to work very, very well when setup for you personally but there is a difference out of the crate. Same here in the engine department, all of the RR-S engines now have the same fuel injection system and equipment as the Race Edition 4-strokes and that just makes them even better. The RR-S is a great machine in any displacement if it fits your riding style.

500RR-S

The last 4-stroke to try was the 500. I should mention that this year all of the machines have updated dry/rain settings and while still not a huge difference it was definitely noticeable. I experimented with both on most every machine and with the conditions we were in the rain mode helped find traction regardless of displacement and 2-stroke or 4. Overjumping a little bit on this machine had me landing in a hole and this is where the difference between open and closed chamber forks is most noticeable. The open chamber forks have less bottoming resistance and a different feel in the last third of the stroke. Again, these machines were bone stock and were probably all at least one spring rate off for me so that's definitely a factor.

XTrainer

Scott (Sierra BMW & Beta Service Manager and XTrainer rider)-Pretty much the same machine as last year, just a bit smoother and the blue bodywork looks great. Always an easy to ride but impressively capable bike. Watching the other riders accelerating across the field before entering the woods section, you wouldn’t think of this Beta as “entry level” or underpowered! Still my favorite.

Evo 200 2T

This was the first of the trials machines I puttered around on. I'm no trials rider and had never ridden a 200 before but this machine was amazing. Plenty of power at sea level, and very light and agile feeling.

Scott (Sierra BMW & Beta Service Manager and actual trials rider)-First time I have been able to ride a 200. Nice nimble bike with very smooth power delivery. Easier to “move” the bike around than the bigger Evo machines. Very impressed with how easy it is to ride. Very fun bike!

Evo 300 2T

I rode the Evo 300 later in the day and not only does it have more power than the 200 there's also a bit different feel to it, quite a bit more flywheel if I had to guess. It felt to me as if there were just more inertia at work in general, both power and handling.

Scott (Sierra BMW & Beta Service Manager and actual trials rider)-Very familiar since this is what I normally ride. Suspension on this standard model felt better than my 2017 Evo did and closer to the 2018 Factory that I currently ride. Unfortunately the area we used didn’t have very many true trials obstacles so I couldn’t give it a thorough test. As always, the 300 has plenty of power!

Evo 300 4T

Scott (Sierra BMW & Beta Service Manager and actual trials rider)-Nice bike, very responsive but nice smooth power delivery. There is a different feel due to the 4-stroke motor and extra pounds over the 2-stroke making it a little heavier to “move” around, but it also makes it more stable. I personally prefer the 2-strokes but there isn’t anything negative to say about this bike. Different strokes for different folks!

Overall - Enduro

As always, Beta has made some really noticeable improvements over last years machines. The entire line has new bodywork with a flatter seat, new radiators, frame, and redesigned mid-section that really improves the bike/rider interface. The RR-S line now has twin injectors and Betas mass centralization efforts continue as the redesigned motor lost weight and moved it for better handling. The 2-stroke 300s and 250 got a counter-balancer to make them even smoother. Of course, another big addition is the Kayaba fork on the Race Edition machines and as expected it works excellently. Two more World Titles, an AMA regional title wrapped up early, and top 3 in a couple of other National championships for 2019 and the amazing 2020 machines mean that 2020 is shaping up to be an even better year for Beta!

Overall - Trial

Scott (Sierra BMW & Beta Service Manager and actual trials rider)-I like the new bodywork. The tail light is more integrated into the fender and it’s nice having the map switch near the gas cap and an LED to let you know what mode is set. It is good that the standard front fork can now be easily upgraded to have the “Factory” adjustability. Good, solid bikes as always.

If you have questions please feel free to hit me up at tom@sierrabmw.com and I'll certainly answer what I can about the new machines for you. Thanks for reading.

Gutish wins AMA National Championship title at the 2019 TKO Enduro!

August 20, 2019 Lane Swall
Beta press 8-20-19.jpg

Tennessee Knock Out Overview:

Location: Sequatchie, TN

Beta Factory Race Team Results:

-Rachel Gutish had an amazing race this weekend taking home her first national championship title!

-Max Gerston finished out the extreme enduro event in 8th place while competing in the stacked Pro class.

-Morgan Tanke put forth a great effort ending the day just shy of the women's pro podium in 4th place.

-Gutish's next event will be at round 6 of the National Enduro Series on August 25th in Wellston, OH. Gerston's next event will be at the 7th round of the West Hare Scramble Series on September 1st in Stillwater, OK. Tanke's next event will be at the 6th round of the National Hare & Hound Series on August 24th in Panaca, NV.

RACHEL GUTISH

Bike: 200 RR

"I am so thrilled to have finally won my first national championship! So much time and effort goes into making a dream like this a reality, and even then there's no guarantees. The 2019 TKO women's final was one of those rare races when everything goes perfectly. I got a fantastic start, stayed smooth and consistent lap after lap, and controlled the race from beginning to end. I was racing against the most talented field of women to ever line up at the Knock Out, and I couldn't be happier with my results and performance! I'm so glad I could bring home a national championship for Beta after the series of injuries and setbacks I fought through earlier this season!"

MAX GERSTON

Bike: 300 RR

"TKO this year was a lot different then years past! With no rain leading up to the race it made for a dry and rough race with higher speeds. Although it was as technical, the intensity was brought to another level. After a long day of racing I ended up 8th in the final. It's not exactly what I was hoping for, but the stacked field was on it! My 300 RR was working great."

MORGAN TANKE

Bike: XTrainer

"I felt really good going into the TKO. I had a good qualifying time on Friday which put me in a good starting spot for round 1 on Saturday. TKO 1 started out good and I was trying to ride smart and conserve energy for the final main event race later on that day. I made a small mistake sending me over the bars and aggravated an old wrist injury. I was still able to finish the 19 mile course and qualify for the main. The main event started out great for me and I was charging in second place catching up to the leader for a majority of the race. All of the rocks and rough terrain started taking its toll on my wrist that I injured early that day and I just couldn't hold on. Unfortunately, I dropped off the pace ending up in 4th for the day. It was a frustrating day for me, but I'm ready to rest up and come out swinging for next weekends NHHA."

Beta grabs 2 podiums in GNCC opener!

March 13, 2019 Lane Swall
Beta press 3-13-19.jpg

Grand National Cross Country Series Round 1 Overview:

Location: Palatka, FL

Beta Factory Race Team Results:

Mike Witkowski grabbed the holeshot and finished round 1 on the XC2 Class podium in 3rd place.

Cody Barnes finished round 1 on the XC3 Class podium in 2nd place.

The next race for both riders will be at the 2nd round of the Grand National Cross Country Series on March 16th-17th in Washington, GA.

MIKE WITKOWSKI

Bike: Beta 250 RR Race Edition

"The Wild Boar GNCC is always tough on the body and bikes as it is always hot and sandy with deep sand whoops. My Beta 250 RR got off to an awesome start grabbing the XC2 holeshot and getting me into the lead. I was feeling so good all day. I should've pushed harder toward the beginning of the day because the last couple laps I still had a lot left in the tank. I was happy with the winter prep I put in and my fitness. The bike soaked up the big sand whoops really well which I was happy about. All in all, it was a great weekend for Beta! Thank you Beta Racing and everyone for all the hard work. Glad it's paying off!"

CODY BARNES

Bike: Beta 125 RR Race Edition

"I got off to a good start and was sitting in 3rd and then moved into the 1st place spot at the beginning of the second lap. Then I was able to pull a small gap. As I went to pit for gas on the beginning of the third lap I noticed my radiator began leaking. Everyone gave a helping hand to replace the busted radiator. I lost a lot of time from the pit stop and dropped down several spots. By the end of the third lap I was able to make it back to 4th. I knew I was in podium contention, so I put my head down and pushed as hard as I could and was able to make it to the second place spot on the podium. My Beta 125 RR was running awesome all day! I'm happy with how I rode, I just had some things that were out of my control. Looking forward to next weekend."

Beta finishes 1st and 2nd in Full Gas Sprint Enduro, plus AMA East Hare Scrambles and Rev Limiter news!

March 7, 2019 Lane Swall
Beta press 3-6-19.jpg

Full Gas Sprint Enduro Series Round 2 Overview:

Location: Blackshear, GA

Beta Factory Race Team Results:

Cody Barnes finished on the podium this weekend in 2nd place in the Pro 2 class at the second round of the FGSE series.

Mike Witkowski also ended up on the podium with a 3rd place finish in the Pro 2 class.

The next race for both riders will be at the 1st round of the Grand National Cross Country Series on March 9th-10th in Palatka, FL.

CODY BARNES

Bike: Beta 250 RR Race Edition

"My weekend started off good with a good first test, but I made some mistakes in the first enduro test and dropped a few positions. After some track changes, due to the mud holes, I started making ground on the competition and worked my way into 3rd going into the last test of the day. With about three turns until the finish on the last test I had a good get-off causing me to lose a lot of time and dropping me back to 6th for the day.

On day two of racing I knew I had my work cut out for me. I was able to do very well all day in the cross test, but I was losing some time in the enduro test. I was still able to make my way to podium contention going into the last enduro test. I found where I was losing time and went into the last test knowing I had to run a perfect test. When the test was done, I was able to claim the second place spot in the Pro 2 class. My bike was working awesome all weekend and I had a blast at this event!"

MIKE WITKOWSKI

Bike: Beta 250 RR Race Edition

"The first day of the Sprint Enduro in Georgia couldn't have went better. I stayed off the ground while riding smooth and consistent. With only a couple mistakes I was happy with my bike and riding performance. I ended up winning day 1, which I hadn't done yet. I was happy going into day two with a solid lead.

Day two started off on the wrong foot with a shoulder problem in the first test leading me to lose over 10 seconds. After the first test I was down and out of the lead. But, I charged all day despite the adversity I endured. I ended up winning test 5 for the day, but I came short of 2nd place for the weekend by less than a second due to my first test result on day two. I was pretty bummed as I wanted to win and I knew it was all mine after day one. Ready for our first GNCC next weekend in the Florida Sand. Definitely motivated after a not so good end result at this sprint enduro!"

AMA East Hare Scramble Series Round 2 Overview:

Location: Graysburg, NC

Beta Factory Race Team Results:

Beta Factory Team rider; Rachel Gutish finished on top of the podium in 1st place in the Women's class at round 2 of the East Hare Scramble Series. Rachel Gutish's next race will be at the 1st round of the Grand National Cross Country Series on March 9th-10th in Palatka, FL.

Beta Support rider; Kyle McDonal also topped the podium with a 1st place finish in the Pro Class.

RACHEL GUTISH

Bike: Beta 390 RR Race Edition

"I'm very happy with how the race went! I was smart and consistent through the deep ruts and mud-holes, which was enough to give me the win! This also moves me up into first place in the series points, which I'm pretty excited about."

KYLE MCDONAL

Bike: Beta 390 RR Race Edition

"Yesterday was round 2 of the AMA East Championship in Garysburg, NC and with all the rain we have been getting it made for a good mud race. Six riders showed up on the pro line and with starting so close to the corner I was last off the line. I was able to make good passes and pick a lot of good lines the first lap to put myself in 1st where I rode for the remainder of the day with a 30 second to 1 minute lead. We did 9 laps on a shortened course due to standing water with a mix of single track, clay hill climbs and open jeep roads. I was able to stay consistent throughout the race and stay out of any deep mud holes where other riders were getting stuck and that really gave me an advantage over the 2 hours. On lap 8 I smashed my shift lever, but luckily I was able to use my hand in the open section to shift and leave it in 3rd for the woods sections."

Rev Limiter Overview:

Location: Decatur, TX

Beta Factory Race Team Results:

Max Gerston placed 6th at the 2019 Rev Limiter last weekend. Max Gerston's next race will be at the Wild West Extreme Enduro event on May 4th, 2019 in Sparks, Nevada.

MAX GERSTON

Bike: Beta 300 RR Race Edition

"The Rev Limiter Extreme Enduro was tough! I actually had a lot of fun riding the terrain and my Beta 300 RR was finding incredible traction. Unfortunately the race was poorly organized so the scoring was confusing and rules were being changed mid race which takes away from the legitimacy of the results. I am looking forward to the next round, and I continue to fall in love with the 2019 300 RR"

EnduroCross Round 6 Overview:

Location: Boise, Idaho

Beta Factory Race Team Results:

Ty Tremaine finished in 3rd place at round 6 in Boise, Idaho while ending the season in 3rd place.

Morgan Tanke placed 3rd at the event and finished the 2018 series in 3rd place.

Max Gerston had an 8th place finish at round 6 of EnduroCross, and finished in 12th place in the season points standings for the 2018 series.

Mason Ottersberg placed 11th at the event, while finishing in 9th place for the series points standings.

Beta USA Support Team

Ty Cullins had a 5th place finish at round 6 of EnduroCross and finished the season in 6th place in the Pro class. Cullins also won the Junior Pro Class Championship this season, which is a class for pro riders under the age of twenty one.

For more information about the EnduroCross series go to: www.endurocross.com

TY TREMAINE

Bike: Beta 300 RR Race Edition

"Coming into Boise, I was just thankful to be racing and healthy after the bad luck in Everett. Kyle Redmond had a one point advantage going into the race but I didn't even think about it. I knew what my goals were and I just raced my own race. I felt strong start to finish and managed to come away with a 3rd and couldn't be happier to put Beta on the podium. I'm happy with the year and excited for what the future will hold."

MAX GERSTON

Bike: Beta 390 RR Race Edition

"Coming into the Endurocross finale in Boise, I really wanted to have a strong showing. Still struggling with the finger injury I had a hard time in hot laps and stalled my bike. I qualified straight to the main and ended up 8th in the main. Issues on the first lap set me so far back it was hard to make up ground. I am very excited to refocus and get ready for 2019."

MASON OTTERSBERG

Bike: Beta 390 RR Race Edition

"I qualified 4th out of my heat race and finished 11th in the main event. My speed was there and this was for sure the best I have ridden, just was too far back off of the start of the main after we all came together in the firewood. I have had many ups and downs through the season, but I finished better in the championship this year with 9th over last years 13th. There is so much more of me to give in this sport and I will not stop until I've made it to the top. Doubt me or believe in me, it's going to happen."

MORGAN TANKE

Bike: Beta 250 RR Race Edition

"I felt a lot better going into the last round in Boise, my ankle still wasn't 100% but I was ready to give it my all. The track was really fun to ride and the firewood pit was very difficult to navigate. I started out in 3rd place and was hanging up front with the top 2 riders for most of the race. I was able to put in a smooth ride and get my Beta on the podium in 3rd. Breaking my ankle mid season was a big bump in the road, but I'm happy that I made progress each race and ended the year strong!"

TY CULLINS

Bike: Beta 300 RR Race Edition

"I had around 7th gate pick in the main event, but my starts have been good all year and I was able to pull the holeshot. However, after several mistakes on the first lap I was back in 9th place. From there I just tried to ride fast and consistent and was able to make my way to 5th, getting my third top 5 of the season and winning the Junior Championship. Coming into this year I was expecting to be top 10 and finishing the year one point short of 5th and winning the Junior Championship means I surpassed all my goals. I'm excited to get back to training and come back for podiums in 2019."

National Enduro Round 10 Overview:

Location: Stanton, Alabama

Beta Factory Race Team Results:

Mike Witkowski placed 9th in the Pro 1 class of the last NEPG event of the year. Witkowski ended the 2018 season in 11th place.

For more information about the National Enduro series go to: www.nationalenduro.com

MIKE WITKOWSKI

Bike: Beta 250 RR Race Edition

"The Gobbler Getter Enduro was one of the races I have never done before, and I have never raced in this state of Alabama. The soil is sandy and the trees are tight! The track conditions were near perfect. The tight trees and ever changing elevation caught me off guard. I was expecting this last National Enduro race to cap off a good end to the year since I did so well at the last GNCC event, but the race had other plans. It seemed like I couldn't get a good flow going, but talking with other riders, that seemed to be everyone's issue. On a good note, I finished the day stronger than where I started. My Beta 300 was perfect and very fun to race. I'm looking forward to working hard this winter and starting round 1 with a fresh start here in a couple months! Thanks Beta for all the support!"

CODY BARNES

Bike: Beta 125 RR

"I started off with a second place start and was able to get in the lead within the first 3 corners. I lead the whole first lap and was feeling awesome on my Beta 125 RR. I was battling for first place during the second lap, but sadly on the 3rd lap after I made the pass for the lead I made a mistake. I ended up taking a bad crash on a straightaway and ended up hurting my right shoulder. By the time I got going again I was battling for third. I tried to keep pace to salvage a podium position but with my shoulder hurting I was making a lot of mistakes. I was forced to back down my pace to prevent any other injuries due to crashes. I ended up finishing 4th for the day."

MIKE WITKOWSKI

Beta 250 RR Race Edition

"The Mason Dixon GNCC track got a lot of rain during the week which made for a tough race. My Beta 250 RR handled the track with comfort all day. I ran 4th in the XC2 class most of the race until about two laps to go. I gave it 100% and didn't leave anything off the track. Some minor mistakes pushed me back to 5th in class for the day and 12th overall. One of my best rides this year. I really wanna get on the podium, I know we will get there before the year ends."

"The Emmett Idaho Hair Scrambles was a gnarly one. It snowed right up until the gate dropped, and then warmed up, which made for some super sloppy conditions. A bad start lead to some serious goggle issues so I pitted on lap 1. Once I could see I was able to put in some solid laps and make up some ground. I was able to make my way up to fourth overall. October 31, 2017 Lane Swall
Beta press 10-31-17.jpg

The fifth round of EnduroCross took place last weekend in Phoenix, Arizona.

Morgan Tanke had another great weekend on-board her Beta XTrainer placing 2nd place in the Women's Class main event. Tanke now sits in 3rd place for the series overall points standings.

Max Gerston placed 8th in the main event. Gerston is currently in 10th place in the overall standings for the Super Enduro Cross Class. Gerston is currently 7 points from 9th place and 9 points from being in 7th place overall.

Ty Cullins ran into some problems early on, but later finished the main event in 9th place. Cullins is currently placed in 11th, only eight points behind Gerston.

Round 6 of the EnduroCross series will take place in Boise, Idaho on November 4th. For more information on the series go to: endurocross.com

Morgan Tanke:
"Stoked to grab another podium this season! I struggled a bit in practice but I was able to shake it off in the main. I rode good, consistent laps with minimal mistakes to get a 2nd place finish. The track had two technical rock sections that I really liked and getting through them clean each lap played a big role in my end finish."

MAX GERSTON:
"Scottsdale Endurocross was good and bad. I finally started to feel a little stronger since my injuries about a month ago. However, I made it hard on myself in the main with a last place start and a crash in the sand section when coming together with a competitor. I was able to fight back to 8th in the main. Looking for a strong ride in Boise."

Ty Cullins:
"The night started out pretty slow when a crash in the qualifier sent me to the LCQ. I was able to get the win in the LCQ and go to the main where I ran a strong pace for the whole 14 laps and kept the mistakes to a minimum. I came away with a 9th place finish."

Jordan Ashburn finished 8th overall in the GNCC series!

The last race of the GNCC series took place last weekend in Crawfordsville, Indiana. This 13 race series ended with a bang as racers competed for final positioning.

The weather at the event was cold and wet, which provided optimum traction for riders in some areas of the course. However, some steep hill climb sections became a problem as riders fought to find traction.

Jordan Ashburn ended the day in 8th place aboard his Beta 300 RR, which put him in 9th place overall for the XC1 class.

Jordan Ashburn:
"Got a great start at the final GNCC this past weekend. The track made for some intense battles it was very fast and open. I was battling for a top 5 position for 3 laps but when I came into the the pits I got passed, everyone was really close. I made a few mistakes and allowed the group to get away from me. I found that making up time was very difficult. I ended up 8th in XC1. "
